Visa on arrival is an alternative way to obtain a visa to Vietnam in addition to the traditional way of obtaining a visa at Vietnam Embassy or Consulates. Once issued, it has same validity with the visa get from Vietnamese Embassy or Consulates. However, visa on arrival is applicable for those who travel Vietnam by airplane only.
The visa on arrival must go with the visa approval letter issued by a Vietnam Immigration Department. Without such pre-arranged approval letter you cannot board the plane therefore cannot enter Vietnam. The visa approval letter can be arranged through a Vietnam visa agency within 3 working days (normal service), 8 working hours (rush service), 4 working hours (urgent service) or even 2 working hours (emergency service) depending on which option the applicants have chosen.
