How to successfully apply for a Vietnam visa for Denmark passport holders

The citizens of Denmark can stay in Vietnam with visa free for less than 45 days. Those who want to stay in Vietnam more than 45 days, Vietnam visa is required.

1. What do Danish visitors need for Vietnam visa?

In order to apply for Vietnam visa, the Danish applicants will need a valid passport which is at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival and there are blank pages for visa stamp.

2. How do Danish passport holders apply for Vietnam visa?

2.1. Apply for e-visa for Vietnam

From August 15, 2023, all the nationalities including Danish citizens are eligible for 90 days (single or multiple entry) e-visas for Vietnam.

In order to apply for Vietnam e-visa, the Danish citizens need to prepare:

  • Files of passport data page photo and passport-sized photo: The passport data page photo should show up 4 corners and borders of the main page in which all the information is displayed clearly without being flashed or obscured by fingers;
    The passport-sized photo must be taken in recently 6 months with eyes open, straight look, without wearing hat or glasses and be taken on a white or light coloured plain background;
  • Credit card or debit card that are enabled to conduct online payment. You can also make a payment via PayPal when you apply for an e-visa on our website;

How to apply e-visa for Vietnam?

Step 1: Fill the requirement information in the application form.
Step 2: Pay the visa fee and get e-visa in maximum 3 – 5 working days.
Step 3: Receive an email containing e-visa upon successful application. Please print out the e-visa, bring along with your passport to get on the plane.
Step 4: Present your e-visa at the immigration counter to get entry into Vietnam.

Things you should notice on the Vietnam e-visa application

When applying for e-visa for Vietnam, please note that:

  • When applying for Vietnam e-visa, the fee is paid to the Vietnam Immigration Department thus you don’t have to bring cash for stamping fee and the visa process at arrival airport is faster accordingly
  • Payments for e-visa applications are non-refundable;
  • The applicants should check the information on a granted e-visa against the passport to make sure there is no mistake;
  • The processing time may take longer than 3 working days that probably affect to your flight time. You are strongly recommended to buy a flight ticket when you already received your e-visa;
  • The applicants have to leave the country before applying for the next e-visa.
  • While your visa application is being processed, you may receive a request for amending your visa information. In this case, the processing time will take more 3 – 5 working days after the revision is made. 2.2. Apply online for a Vietnam visa on arrival

The Danish passport holders can apply Vietnam visa on arrival from anywhere outside of Vietnam. The Vietnam visa will be picked up upon arrival at the Vietnam airports by showing up the printed approval letter.

The approval letter will be sent via email within 3 working days (normal processing mode), 8 working hours (rush processing mode), 4 hours (urgent processing mode) or even 2 hours (emergency processing mode) depending on which option you choose when submitting the visa application. Vietnam visa on arrival is especially beneficial for those who are living far from the Vietnam Embassy or Consulate in Denmark.

In order to get a Vietnam visa on arrival, the Danish passport holders should pay two types of fee: the processing fee and the stamping fee.
Processing fee: It is the fee for expediting the visa approval letter.
Stamping fee: Stamping fee is paid in cash to at the visa counter at the arrival airport to get the visa stamp. The applicants must prepare the processing fee in cash (USD or VND) as far as there is no ATM, money changer or any other way to withdraw money in the immigration hall and credit cards are not accepted. Other currencies will be converted into USD at given exchange rate.

Notes:
– Visa on arrival is only applicable for Danish citizens traveling by air to Vietnam.

2.3. Apply for Vietnam visa directly at the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulates

How to get?Step 1. Go online at the visa application form and select "Vietnam visa on arrival";
Step 2. Make payment of the service fee;
Step 3. Receive a visa approval letter via email;
Step 4. Get visa stamped at arrival airport in Vietnam after presenting the visa approval letter, original passport, photos, entry and exit form and stamping fee in cash.
Step 1. Connect to the visa application form and select "30 days single entry (tourist e-visa)"
Step 2: Complete the form and attach with photos of yourself and your passport data page;
Step 3. Make payment of visa fee and receive a visa registration code;
Step 4. Check the visa application progress by entering the visa registration code, email and date of birth and then print the e-visa when it has been approved.
WarningIt may, but just sometimes, take you up to 30 minutes or 1 hour to get visa stamped at Vietnam airport if there are too many people arriving at the same time.- As this kind of visa is very new, of which some certain airlines or even immigration staff at the airports may have not been aware and therefore may refuse it, you should check with your airlines in advance to avoid this;

Vietnam visa on arrival facility is obviously more beneficial than traditional visa. Therefore, there are more and more travelers select visa on arrival for their travel.
