Navigating the Vietnam visa process for Montenegrin citizens
The citizens of Montenegro is not included in the visa exemption list; therefore, all Montenegrins need to apply visa to Vietnam for either tourism or business purpose.
Vietnam visa is required for all Montenegrin citizens;
Montenegrin citizens are eligible for maximum 90 days single or multiple entry e-visa;
Montenegrin citizens can get visa on arrival with pre-arranged visa approval letter;
At present, there are 3 options for the Montenegrin citizens applying for Vietnam visa:
1. Apply for e-visa for Vietnam
This is new pilot visa system which has just official launched in February 2017. In order to apply for Vietnam e-visa, the Montenegrin passport holders will need to prepare the following materials:
- Files of passport data page photo and passport-sized photo: The passport data page photo should show 4 corners and borders of the main page in which all the information is displayed clearly without being flashed or obscured by fingers;
The passport-sized photo must be taken within 6 months with eyes open, straight look, without wearing hat or glasses and be taken on a white or a light coloured plain background; - Credit card or debit card that are enabled to conduct online payment. You can also make a payment via PayPal when you apply for an e-visa on our website;
The e-visa fee (service fee and stamping fee) is paid once when the Montenegrin applicants apply for e-visa, thus no cash is required at arrival airport.
Vietnam e-visa is good for those who travel Vietnam less than 90 days with single or multiple entry. However, the citizens of Montenegro are exempted from Vietnam for 45 days visit thus they can apply for a longer validity e-visa (from 45 – 90 days) with single or multiple entries.
Things you should know when applying for Vietnam e-visa
When applying for e-visa for Vietnam, please note that:
- Payment for e-visa applications are non-refundable;
- The applicants should check the information on a granted e-visa against the passport to make sure there is no mistake;
- The processing time may take longer than 3 working days that probably affect to your flight time. You are strongly recommended to buy a flight ticket when you already received your e-visa;
- The applicants have to leave the country before applying for the next e-visa.
- While your visa application is being processed, you may receive a request for amending your visa information. In this case, the processing time will take more 3 – 5 working days after the revision is made. How to apply e-visa for Vietnam?
Step 1: Fill the requirement information in the application form.
Step 2: Pay the visa fee and get e-visa in maximum 3 – 5 working days.
Step 3: Receive an email containing e-visa upon successful application. Please print out the e-visa, bring along with your passport to get on the plane.
Step 4: Present your e-visa at the immigration counter to get entry into Vietnam.

2. Apply for a visa at the Vietnam Embassy
Since there is no representative office of Vietnam’s government in Montenegro at present, the foreigners (including Montenegrin citizens and other nationalities residing in Montenegro) are suggested to contact the nearest Vietnamese Embassy in neighboring countries: Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary to get pre-stamped visa.
3. Apply for Vietnam visa on arrival
If it is inconvenient for you to visit the Vietnam Embassy in neighboring countries, you may select Vietnam visa on arrival to simplify your visa application process.
Visa on arrival is an alternative way to obtain a visa to Vietnam in addition to the traditional way of obtaining a visa at Vietnam Embassy or Consulates. Once issued, it has same validity with the visa get from Vietnamese Embassy or Consulates. However, visa on arrival is applicable for those who travel Vietnam by airplane only.
